Hostess i/E [Comtrol Corporation]

The Hostess i/E intelligent multiport serial controller features a full32-bit EISA bus master. This reduces memory access time significantly,because data moves from the controller into system memory up to 10 timesfaster than conventional methods. Hostess i/E has a NEC V53 12 MHz(80286-compatible) processor and 128KB DRAM that is upgradable with 512KBor 2 MB SIMM modules. Available in 8- or 16-port models, up to fourcontrollers can be installed in an EISA compatible system. Hostess i/Ecan support two full-duplex synchronous ports with speeds up to 1.10Mbps. Interfaces include RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 with DB9, DB25, orRJ45 connectors. Software device drivers and updates are available at nocharge.
